Welcome to my web site. Like my life, it’s a work in progress. I was riffed from my longtime job as a columnist at The Tampa Tribune a few months back. So I've turned to the new media. I'm adding my voice to the very popular Tampa Bay blog, Sticks of Fire.com, as well as to my own blog, JudyHillOnline.

I'm now able to promote some of the small nonprofits that I've come to know and love through the years. One of my favorites is the Animal Coalition of Tampa http://www.actampa.org, which provides low-cost spay and neuter services for companion animals to help reduce the number of strays who are euthanized each year. If you care about animals, feel free to make a donation to ACT.

Another is Bob Williams, the Wesley Chapel, FL businessman who has single-handedly shipped tons of stuff to American troops in the war zone. And not just candy. Televisions, DVDs, iPods, pool tables, coffee pots, tools, lights, personal hygiene items and, yes, candy, Starbucks coffee, Snyder's of Hanover munchies and Tampa cigars. Make a donation to assist Williams with postage, which runs $2,000 to $4,000 a month by visiting http://www.ourtroopsonline.com.

I'll add more as time goes on, so stop back by for an update.

Baxter is the guy who shares my home. Well, Leo lives here, too, as does Lilly. But Baxter is the alpha male and the only dog.

He's smarter than I. Pithier, too. His latest observation is:

I'm 14 years old and spending a lot of time at the vet these days. I have arthritic hips and spine, and an irritable bowel, but I'm lucky. I'm still looking down at the green side of the grass, not up at the brown side.
